A Fishing Reel Test

These two spinning reels were part of a comparison article in Field and Stream, April 2010 issue.  The Shimano got a 5 star rating by a test panel of 4 men, ranging in age from 26 to 58.  The Abu Garcia got a 3 star rating.  They said that the Shimao Sedona - PRO "casts like a dream", CON - "the bail seemed a little lightweight."  The Abu Garcia Cardinal's comments were PRO -  "No bells and whistles, but that's not a bad thing", and CON -  "There was some play in the anti-reverse."   The other two fishing reels that were part of this test were Strike Tech ST30GA at 4 stars and the Okuma Epixor EF 30B at 3 1/2 stars. Check them out the next time you go to your favourite sports shop.

Fishless

It has been a fishless winter so far...(sigh). Every time I get the chance to get to the river, it either is flooded, moving too fast, or just plain nasty weather. Although the Northwest has had a warmer than average winter, the fishing sucks. So I haven't posted in awhile, sorry. I promise to get more diligent about trying to catch a fish so I can tell you all about it. The giantness, the break-your-scale weight, the fight, the broken fishing reel trying to get it to shore, the moment of triumph when I give it a big smackin' kiss and send it back to grow just a little bigger.
